What is Science and Virtue?

Most of us might not now what is Science and Virtue, especially if you're not from Centro Escolar University. So what is Science and Virtue (Ciencia Y Virtud, as the term used by Escolarians)

I have been studying in Centro Escolar University since 2011. I will not deny the fact that, Centro Escolar University never crossed my mind when I was given a chance ti decide on which University I am going to. Sadly, I wasn't able to pass the entrance exam of my dream school. But luckily, i found Centro Escolar University. I didn't have any idea of College would be like. Knowing I just graduated Highschool that time, I was really clueless. I wasn't even sure if this is what I really want.

Then first day of college came, I didn't know what to expect i didn't know what to do exactly. I kept smiling to people i don't know. Haha. Now I find it awkward. Never did it crossed my mind to be as active as I am now.

I notice a changed in me as time pass by. Almost 2 years had passed. And things change. But as I continue my college life at CEU, I realized a lot of things. I may have been immature for the past years since college started. I have been insensitive and stuff like that. I have always been the girl they call "KSP" or "Pa-BIDA". Yes, that's true. I always want all eyes on me. Because I was immature. I will not deny that a part of me is still immature. All of us still have that part one way or another. Haha. Anyways, but as time pass by, I have learned and not just learned but nasaisa puso ko na yung SCIENCE AND VIRTUE (Ciencia Y Virtud). Not fully but a big part of me live with it now. :)

Science and Virtue for me is like, excelling in academics. AND NOT JUST ACADEMICS but also in other or EXTRA CO-CURRICULAR Activities such as Organization Activities or events. I am happy that I was able to show and express my skills in our department/program. I became the Public Relations Officer of Psychology Society during my 2nd Year. And now that I am about to end my Sophomore Year, I ran as the Assistant Treasurer of USC (University Student Council) I am overwhelmed because I won. But a part of me still feels bad about not running for my first family, the Psychology Society because they expected a lot from me and i don't like the feeling of  "I failed their expectations".

Science and Virtue is like the sound of the body. It has all the factors in it, it helps you being who you are today, and it aids you to be good and gives you the positive side of life. Science and Virtue comes in various aspects of life. One very good trait that science and virtue gives us is responsibility and obedience. This two traits can help us students be more productive in everyday life. Having control over and accountability for appropriate events and willingness to obey, to be controlled when necessary, and to carry out orders. When you say responsibility it is not just of taking over. It is how you manage or how you control a specific task.

The bigger the responsibility the harder it gets, and the quote “great power comes great responsibilities”. The more you should get bigger responsibilities in life because it is a big part in our lives to be responsible in enough in taking control of things we needed or want. It’s like practicing your capabilities in such work. And of course being obedient is one of them. Being obedient is not only when you do what is commanded or what is being asked. It is how you interpret, how are you willing to do it and how to carry out the orders given. There is this quote “obey first before you complain”.

This is true because why won’t try it first before you say no or quit. In Science and Virtue we are taught to be individuals, how we stand our ground and how we show and express it to people. Science and Virtue is not limited in school work or in business associated, it is applied and have been part of our lives ever since. For example being friendly is a tendency to be pleasant and accommodating. 

It can also be applied in relationships like commitment, the firm carrying out of purpose. Meaning Science and Virtue is everywhere you may not know it but you are already practicing it in your life. And it all leads down to discipline, being well behaved and under control. Because you know that you can do it, you have the push to achieve it and you have the heart to pursue it. "Everything in life that we really accept undergoes a change.." Katherine Mansfield, British author (1888-1923)- acceptance is a must. Just P.U.S.H. (Pray Until Something Happens)

I am not graduating yet. I still have 2 more years to fulfill and 4 semesters to pass. But at this early point of my life, I can really tell that Science and Virtue has been challenging me everyday to prove that I can do something.
